A Search for Comfort in Leonia

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. ~2 Corinthians 5:6-8

Carmela Polimeni

I believe strongly that no one should ever be put to rest alone. That is why I am asking our Jersey community to come together to help one of our own.

A listing was posted in a local Bergen County newspaper about Carmela Polimeni. Now, I will say upfront I do not know this woman. But she’s a Jersey Girl, just like me. And sadly, she passed away in July. What is even more sad is that no one has claimed her as a family member.

So sadly, she waits for her final place of rest… alone.

The paesani of the Italian Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Newark is working hard to find her family. So I am asking for help. We want to make sure she has a proper burial and is put to rest as a woman should be after a long life.

We know very little about Carmela at the moment. She lived in Leonia for at least the last two decades. I am asking if anyone who knows Carmela, her family, or her friends, I ask that you post a comment here or let her friends please contact the Newark Archdiocese and ask for a representative of the Italian Apostolate. She is currently at the Eternity funeral Home in Englewood.

If no one is found, we will do all we can to make sure she received a proper burial.
