This Is My New Jersey

All that is great about the Garden State!

A True Jersey Podcast

Awhile back I blogged about a podcast I came across that was created by Jersey transplants. Let’s just say I found them less than charming. Today, I want to share a true Jersey podcast for those of us who really love our state!

The Jersey Angle

The Jersey Angle Podcast is hosted by Jersey journalists, Mark Bonamo and Brian Donohue.

I have been a fan of Brian Donohue for quite some time. I absolutely loved his Positively New Jersey segments on News 12 and actually opined awhile back about the huge mistake News 12 made when they cut several members of the local news team and made multiple programming changes. Brian decided to call it quits rather than change his beloved segment. I don’t blame him one bit. He landed at Red Bank Green and continues to focus on telling the unique stories you will only find in New Jersey.

I had the opportunity to meet Mark Bonamo last summer. The Italian American community that remains in the Ironbound were incensed to learn their beloved Mother Cabrini was going to be moved to the Old First Ward – without their knowledge. Newark Councilman Michael Silva scheduled a meeting for the community to come and have an airing of the grievances. Mark was there to cover the issue for Tapinto Newark. Of course, we started chatting and despite hailing from Staten Island, I would consider him a solid Jersey convert.

So when I heard Brian and Mark connected to create a legit Jersey Podcast, I was thrilled.

They cover plenty of interesting topics, because there’s a Jersey angle to every story. From politics to the complicated relationship we have with the local sports teams, Jersey certainly has a variety of stories to tell.

I look forward to every episode of their podcast and hope they will continue to share the stories of Jersey history, characters, and legends for a long time to come. We need more actual voices who get our quirky, vibrant, and tough state.

Well done guys.
